The Battle of the Saints is that the annual cricket contest between St Peter's and St. Joseph's schools in capital of Sri Lanka, Sri Lanka, that takes place in March. Inaugurated in 1933 by the reverends of St. Peter's and St.Joseph's, the matches receive important media and supporter attention, with the 2012 match being the 78th encounter. The groups contend for the Reverend religious Maurice Legoc Trophy, named when the tournament's founder.[1]

For the past seventy eight matches, St. Joseph’s faculty have recorded twelve wins, whereas the Peterites have registered simply nine. fifty seven matches have finished up with no result for either team. In 2008 St. Joseph’s faculty won the match, that finished a thirty five year drought, and in 2010 St. Peter’s won the match when thirty two years.[2]
